Garage Beer at its Finest.
Roger and Crista Johnson started their brewery in 2015 after Roger retired from a 21-year career as a truck driver. The brewery allowed Roger to spend more time with his family, friends, grandchildren, and their farm. Roger discovered his passion for brewing, with Crista's support, hard work, and love, and with guidance from other brewers, they transformed their garage into a brewery. Starting with a small setup, they eventually expanded to a 3.5 Barrel Brew House to meet demand. Their daughter-in-law, Kristin Johnson, joined the team as the only female brewer in West Virginia at the time. They built an addition to the brewery and opened the Spent Grain Cafe. In 2019, their son Jameson joined full-time, bringing his cooking skills. In 2020, they started bottling their beer and later introduced a canning system. The business grew from one employee to 19, thanks to their dedicated and hardworking team. Screech Owl Brewing and Spent Grain Cafe prioritize family, friends, and quality. They invite visitors to enjoy their handcrafted beer, spent grain bread, and traditional cuisine in the mountains of Preston County, West Virginia.
